Applicants will receive notification of exam availability) RESIDENCY:
Candidates must have been legal residents of Seneca County or one of the six (6) contiguous counties for one (1) month preceding the date of application.
Preference in appointment may be given to successful candidates who have been legal residents of the municipality in which appointment is to be made for at least one (1) month prior to the date of certification and are residents of such municipality at the time of appointment.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES (Department of Human Services):
Responsible for much of the day-to-day operations of the front office including:
maintaining a confidential file system, maintaining county Switchboard, secretary to the related programs wide range of human service organizations that focus on areas such as employment, food and nutrition, health and wellness, Medicaid, youth development, child support, child and adult protective, foster care and adoption.
Assists in the preparation of files, distributes informational and action materials and takes minutes for meetings; Types and submits confidential correspondence, expense vouchers, clearances, notices; Acquires departmental supplies; Makes appointments and maintains appointment schedule for the division; Makes copies and sends fax messages; Scans documents for DHS; Registers all new applications and assigns new applications to the appropriate workers daily; Calls down reports; Schedules appointments, Creates EBT benefit cards; Assists with Pay lines; Understands human needs, values, and social conditions and helps develop the expertise to build and maintain healthy individuals and communities.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
A.
Possession of an Associate Degree in Secretarial Science, Business Administration, Human Resources, Human Services, Social Work or a related field and one year of experience in Office Administration; OR B.
Graduation from high school or possession of a High School Equivalency Diploma and three years of experience in Senior Level Clerical Work; OR C.
An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
